Not long 'til Christmas! And just think, in eight months we'll be halfway through our trip, probably driving south from Memphis in the humidity and sunshine of a Mississippi summer. Seems difficult to imagine with the cold and the rain outside...

Well, we're another month closer to our great escape and of course, another month closer to hitting the big 3-0. My friend Keir had his birthday party this weekend, and it reminded me that in seven months' time both Josie and I will be 30 ourselves! I want to say a big thank you to those of you who have visited our blog, clicked our ads and given us gifts towards our list so far.

A big thank you to my Dad, who has kindly agreed to sponsor our stay in the Smoky Mountains. I'm really excited about this part of the trip and will relish the opportunity to stretch my legs for a good few days in between all the driving. I also wanted to say thank you to my colleague Clare, who gave me a voucher for WHSmiths literally SECONDS after reading this blog - it's earmarked for puzzle books for our journey so I don't talk Josie's ear off on the flight the way I do when I'm at my desk next to Clare!
